Outdoor Education

At UWC Atlantic, learning doesn't stop at the classroom door. From the coastline of South Wales to the mountains, rivers and caves beyond our campus, Outdoor Education is an essential part of how students discover their strengths, build resilience and develop the confidence to lead.

Every student begins their journey with immersive outdoor experiences during orientation and camp, before choosing from a growing range of activities throughout their two years at the College. These experiences are closely linked to our academic curriculum, helping students connect classroom learning with real-world environments and global challenges.

Set within one of the UK's most spectacular coastal landscapes, and with easy access to mountains, rivers and world-class outdoor venues, UWC Atlantic offers an exceptional environment for experiential learning. Here, challenge becomes opportunity, adventure becomes education and the outdoors becomes another classroom.

Outdoor Education Programme

Challenging both mentally and physically, our Outdoor Programme is designed to build resilience, develop teamwork and encourage our students' ability to become leaders.

This two-year programme offers a wide range of physical and mental challenges, including: camping and expedition skills, climbing and bouldering, hill and mountain walking, caving, gorge walking, mountain biking, sailing, paddlesports (kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding), RLSS water safety training, our Outdoor Leaders Programme and the NCI Coastwatch programme.
