Forever Scholarships - endowed gifts

The UWC Atlantic Endowment Challenge is a transformative fundraising initiative to build a sustainable future for UWC scholarships. This initiative will establish a reliable and perpetual source of funding for scholarships at UWC Atlantic.

Our Goal: $5 Million

To achieve this ambitious vision, we must raise $5 million by November 2025 to unlock $2.25 million in match funding.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the van Otterloo family and an anonymous donor, every gift given before 30th November 2025 will go even further. The $5 million we raise will generate $2.25 million of match funding.
We have already started this challenge. Jill Longson (AC’81 and Chair of our Board) and Colin Habgood have pledged a matching donation to encourage others to give. So:

  • The first $800,000 raised will be matched 100%, doubling every dollar - meaning every $100,000 donated becomes $200,000.
  • Additional donations on top of that, will still receive a remarkable 50% match, further amplifying their impact.

With this match funding, we have a unique opportunity to nearly double UWC Atlantic’s endowment funding pool and join together as a community to ensure a future where financial barriers never stand in the way of talent and potential.

Students at UWC Atlantic

A gift that lasts forever

Your contribution is not just a donation - it is a powerful investment in the future. By helping us reach this goal, you will enable talented, passionate students from all corners of the globe to access a life-changing UWC education, regardless of financial circumstances.

Every dollar you give brings us closer to a world where access to education is driven by potential, not privilege. Join us in creating a lasting legacy.

Together, we can empower students to shape a brighter future - today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.

If we somehow could find a way so that UWC could become several hundred schools with the same mission, with the same idea of bringing students together from all these cultures and backgrounds, education would enable a better world.

How endowed scholarship gifts work

UWC Atlantic Endowment donations will be invested in the UWC Endowment Fund. A bold, game-changing, UWC movement-wide initiative open to all UWC Colleges, the UWCIO and National Committees. It is managed by the UWC Endowment Management Board, regulated by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority and overseen by an independent Board.

The UWC Endowment Fund targets 7% growth and 3-5% distribution, with assets and returns remaining the property of the investing UWC colleges. The fund achieved an impressive 9.5% return in USD during its first half-year of operation in 2024.

Endowing just one scholarship every other year requires £1.5 million. Together, we can secure scholarship opportunities for future generations. Donate now and maximise your impact through our match-giving programme!

Colin and I made this decision because we are deeply committed to ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of UWC Atlantic, particularly encouraging and supporting the deliberate diversity of our students that makes the UWC experience so special. Inspired by the transformative opportunities made possible through the UWC Endowment Fund, we are proud to give back in a way that will leave a lasting legacy. To leverage this impact, we are offering our own match challenge – an invitation to join us in securing the enduring future of UWC Atlantic. Together, we can empower generations of students to thrive and make a difference in the world.
